Get out your spring hats and seersucker suits because it’s time for BTAC’s Annual Spring Tea Party! But wait, it’s a party with a twist!
Rather than asking you to get a babysitter, dress up, and listen to speeches, we provide the tea and you enjoy it at your convenience!
Your support is very important to BTAC.
So, please follow these four easy steps:
- Support BTAC’s services for members of our community who are financially struggling or are homeless by using the donation buttons below.
- Put on the teapot when you have time to relax and enjoy the tea attached to the letter you received in the mail.
- This year, take a photo of yourself enjoying your tea and then send it to BTAC, either with your donation through the mail, via email at info@theBTAC.org, or even post it on BTAC’s Facebook page. Use #BTACSpringTeaParty with your post.
If you didn’t get a bag of tea in the mail, you can still participate by donating and using your own tea for a photo! If you would like to receive the actual tea letter in the mail next year, please contact info@theBTAC.org to be added to the list.
- Feed good knowing you’re helping your neighbors and friends in the community.
As you know, BTAC provides assistance to the homeless and low-income in our community. Whether providing groceries or utility assistance for someone struggling to make ends meet or providing an address for mail and a place to shower for the homeless, BTAC is helping provide the necessities of life to those in need. And with your donation, you are helping ensure BTAC’s work continues.
Every response we receive prior to June 30 will be entered into a drawing for one of two $25 gift cards to a business located here in Burbank!
If you would like more information about the Burbank Temporary Aid Center, its services, or volunteering, please contact BTAC at (818) 848-2822.
Join BTAC and the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) for the largest one-day food drive in the country!
On May 14, just set out your non-perishable food well before your letter carrier’s normal pick-up time. Note that he or she will be delivering and collecting mail as usual, on top of collecting food donations, so that pickup time could be slightly later than usual.
Review Frequently Asked Questions
For more than 20 years, the NALC has conducted an annual nationwide food drive on the second Saturday in May. Using the unparalleled postal networks, letter carriers collect non-perishable food donations on that day as they deliver mail along their postal routes.
It is held in 10,000 cities and towns in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Guam.
Among the many local volunteer groups that will help are the United Way, Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, National Guard units, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Boy/Girl Scouts, various student groups, Rotary Clubs and AARP groups.
“Many people in this country struggle with hunger every day,” NALC President Fredric Rolando said. “We are honored to be able to help people in need by leading an effort that brings out the best in so many Americans. Six days a week, letter carriers see first-hand the needs in the communities where we work, and we’re committed to helping meet those needs.”
For more than a decade, the drive has annually collected more than 70 million pounds of food. Over the course of its history, the food drive has collected 1.4 billion pounds of food to help feed our neighbors.
Together we can stamp out hunger!

Thanks to everyone who attended the BTAC Annual Gala this year, in which we honored Providence St. Joseph’s for all the great work they do in our community. BTAC is blessed to have the support of this generous community, and we truly could not exist without your support.
Here’s an excerpt from an article that appeared in the Burbank Leader.
On the Town: BTAC honors hospital for citizenship
By David Laurell
“The Burbank Temporary Aid Center, known as BTAC, presented Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center with Burbank’s Top Award for Citizenship at its 12th annual gala fundraiser held at the Castaway Restaurant and Special Events Center on March 6.
Always well-attended by local dignitaries and representatives from Burbank’s governmental, business, media and nonprofit factions, this annual event, which honors a Burbank company, organization or individual who has shown dedication to bettering the community, also serves as BTAC’s premier fundraiser.
Welcomed by Barbara Howell, BTAC’s chief executive, and the organization’s chairman of the board, Ron Sorensen, who also serves as the director of the Providence Center for Community Health Improvement for Providence Health and Services, attendees enjoyed the evening’s program emceed by Gary Olson, president of the Burbank Chamber of Commerce.
This year’s gala, co-chaired by Nancy Gams Korb, a member of the Brad Korb Team of RE/MAX In Action Realtors, and Alethia Calagias, who oversees community relations for the Logix Federal Credit Union, was made possible by the event committee composed of Susan Borders, Dee Call, Kimberley Clark, Benjamin Dennis, Darryl Forbes, Jessa Freemyer, Angie Gonzalez, Maddy Horne, Courtney Korb, Silvia Mancini, Teri Suarez, Lauri Veverka and Vicki Williams.
…Also honored were longtime BTAC volunteer Dorothy Murray and staff member Edward Stapleton, who serves as the organization’s pantry and facility manager.”
Burbank Temporary Aid Center to expand following planning board approval
By Alene Tchekmedyian, email@example.com August 12, 2014 | 6:16 p.m.
The Burbank Temporary Aid Center will move forward with plans to expand its operation into a commercial building next door after receiving the unanimous green light on the proposal from the Burbank Planning Board on Monday. The nonprofit, which annually serves 300 homeless people and 3,000 low-income Burbank households, will use the building at 1308 W. Burbank Blvd., which used to house a post-production company, to create food storage pantries, two offices and a laundry room.Operators said with the expansion, they’ll be serving the same number of clients with some much-needed elbow room. In the center’s current facility, food bins are reportedly stacked 9 feet above ground, and clients often spill out of the lobby and must stand outside while waiting to be seen.
Burbank Temporary Aid Center will honor Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center with Burbank’s Top Award for Citizenship. The award will be presented at BTAC’s annual gala at The Castaway on Friday, March 6, 2015.
The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails, while guests bid on silent auction as they mix and mingle. The dinner and program will begin at 7:00 p.m. In addition to the silent auction items, guests can also enjoy raffles and a Wine Pull.
